Prison Ministry
St. Paul’s Prison Ministry is in its fourth year at Metro State, a maximum-security facility in Atlanta, which houses approximately 1000 women.
Journey Group Journey Group is a Bible study and spiritual growth group for women incarcerated at Metro State Prison in Atlanta.
Our theme for this session was entitled "Your Scars are Beautiful to God"--an exploration of the scars (both physical and emotional) which have affected our lives from birth to the present. Journey meets every week on Tuesday, 6:30- 8:00 PM. Volunteers are invited to join the Journey team after completing volunteer training.
Women of Faith The Women of Faith service meets on the fourth Friday of every month. This is a program that participating churches take turns planning. The programs typically include worship, and they may also have speakers, films, seminars, book discussions, or any number of activities of interest to the inmates and the volunteers. New volunteers are welcome to attend WOF and it does not require completion of the volunteer training.
Other Programs include:
Voices of Faith Choir
Certificate in Religious Studies Program (CTS) – a one-year program that offers college courses in theology for inmates. Donations of funds and books are accepted to help with costs.
Support for Persons in Transition from Prison – helps women and men in transition by contributing clothing and helping with living expenses for re-entry into the community.
Alpha and Omega Society, Inc. – Volunteers are needed to serve as partners for men and women returning to the community from prison.
