Mission statement or purpose
Adopt-A-Family (AAF) is a seasonal ministry that matches families in need with donors who provide clothing and gifts at Christmas.
Why was the ministry started and who does it serve
The ministry evolved as a result of a collaborative partnership between the Church and two community schools – Peyton Forest and F. L. Stanton. It provided an opportunity to provide outreach to the family, as a whole, during the holiday season.
Specific volunteer opportunities to include times and days
Volunteer opportunities are seasonal, with planning and organizing activities underway from September – November. The event is held in December, usually the Saturday prior to Christmas.
How a church or community member can receive services from this ministry
A representative from the AAF Committee contacts the partner schools and solicits names of families, in need, from the Principal. The target is two-four students from each grade level, from both schools.
A member of the community, outside of the partner schools, in need, should contact the Church Office for assistance.
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
