“Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthian's 9:7
God is a generous God.
God has given us all the time, talent and treasure we have.
God calls us to be faithful with God’s riches.
An Understanding of Giving at St. Paul’s:
1. All that we have belongs to God.
2. Christian giving is the awareness of and the response to God’s goodness.
3. Each member should give of their Time and Talent to at least one ministry of the Church.
4. Scripture and the Episcopal Church agree that the “Tithe” or one -tenth of one’s net income is the “minimum standard of giving.”
5. Every member is encouraged to make an annual financial faith commitment known as a Pledge. (A Pledge is the promise of our Tithe or some other amount towards the Operating Budget of the church.)
6. The church operating budget is based entirely on the congregation’s Tithes and Pledges.
7. All money given by members who do not Pledge and guests of the Church go to the Operating Budget of the Church.
8. Giving for occasional, seasonal or specific reasons such as Altar Flowers, Organizational Dues or Church outings is considered “Offering” and is greatly appreciated but does not count toward your Tithe/Pledge amount.
9. It is the responsibility of every member to maintain and complete their Tithe/Pledge. You may check the status of your giving through the church’s website or by contacting the church office.
10. In the event you are unable to complete your Tithe/Pledge please email or complete a new Pledge Card with the revised amount prior to the end of the calendar year.
11. At mid-year and the conclusion of each calendar year every member will receive a statement of their giving via email or regular mail.
(According to the IRS guidelines, only the amount “...for which no goods or services were received qualifies as a Charitable Donation.”)
