St. Paul’s Vestry invested in a piece of property down the street from the church
in 2005. The purpose was unknown at the time but after research, thought and prayer
by the sub-committee, it was decided that the house should be used to provide transitional
housing for homeless families. More research showed that St. Paul’s was not well
placed to create transitional housing on our own.
By partnering with Nicholas House (http://www.nicholashouse.org/index.asp), St.
Paul’s is able to leverage the resources of a well-established transition home program.
Praise God! A family has been living in the house since October 2006.
Now our wish is to see how we can further serve the needs of the homeless. The Housing
Ministry is starting research into the
possibility of starting a 501(c)3 to buy additional property
to continue our work to enable more people to learn how to be homeowners.
Volunteers are needed to help with research, planning, and with the care of our
current property at 365 Peyton Road. Contact Marilane Bond at mbond@emory.edu
